Overview: Different companies have different display needs when they are selling online. National Wholesale, a leading direct merchant of women's apparel and accessories, had a number of unique needs specific to the product lines, customer base (seniors) and methods of shopping.

Because many of National's clients are seniors, they asked us to develop a very basic navigational system that would start at the top and work down as a visitor shopped the site. Note on the home page how the navigation begins on the very first line, with clear instructions of what the visitor is to do. Once the shopper chooses a department, a second row of categories is offered to lead them to products in the department. Clear and simple, off the top, was what we heard our client request. With this done, we filled the remainder of the page with very attractive samples of their colorful product products.

Once a shopper gets to a product page, National still has a large amount of information needs to be displayed. For example, a simple blouse will still require the visitor to select a style (Misses, Women's and/or Petite), a size within this style, and then a color and quantity to buy. That's a lot of information for one page! Shoes are even more challenging. Drop downs were required for sizes because National offers 25 or more different sizes for their most popular shoes! We're delighted how we were able to develop attractive page displays for these products with a maximum of information and a minimum of confusion! The client was also thrilled with the color swatches we were able to put online directly from their in-house photography!

In the apparel business, back-ordered and out-of-stock products are common. National wanted inventory status information presented to the shopper right on the product page, and SiteForm delivered. We worked with their fulfillment and inventory system to report to the website the inventory status of each and every product. Product inventory status is presented on the product page with information such as "In Stock", "Unavailable" or an estimate of when the backorder will be shipped.

Nearly all of Nationals online shoppers are lead to the site from printed catalogs they mail. Capturing source code information for these customers is crucial for National's Marketing Department, so they requested with do all we can to capture this information. The solution was to put a graphic of the back of a catalog, making it very clear to any shopper with a catalog where to find this information. It's not mandatory information (never want to lose a sale because a code can't be found) but it's put right at the beginning of the checkout and made as simple as possible!

National Wholesale has a product line of thousand of different SKUs. They have been delighted with the successful way SiteForm was able to present the many product style and color choices without ever cluttering the site or taking away from the great product photography which closes sale-after-online sale!
